Have you heard of Wim Hof?
You must have if you follow me longer than a week. I’ve published several pieces about the Wim Hof Method and how that improved a lot of things in my life.
As he states on his website:
“The Wim Hof Method can be defined by its simple, easy-to-apply approach and its strong scientific foundation. It’s a practical way to become happier, healthier, and stronger.”
Wim Hof
It’s basically cold shower therapy.
As you take cold showers, your body will drop in average temperature and do this for a while, decreasing your average heartbeat, and if that happens every day, it will take away your stress.
He claims that we can get into the autoimmune system by applying this method and improving our immune system to prevent and fight diseases with just our own willpower.
Have you ever taken a cold shower?
When he applied this method, he also got himself checked up by a couple of doctors and scientists to verify his claims are valid, which they are. It’s a natural and effective method that makes you control your own body.
As he describes in this video, he wants to get everything out of his life, and that’s why he invests in learning about himself and his body. This is something we could all apply and is universal.
But what if it’s incredibly hot? What does Wim Hof say about taking hot showers?
Take Hot Showers When It’s Hot Outside
The last few weeks were very hot here where I live. Although cold showers might help to solve your problem temporarily, according to Hof, you can prepare your body for the heat using hot showers instead of cold showers.
He explained this in a late-night talk show on Dutch television last year during a heatwave.
Training your body for the heat works the same as training your body for the cold. When it’s cold you take cold showers and vice versa.
But the tips he gives are:
Don’t burn yourself
Make it uncomfortable, not painful
It will give you “protection” or some kind of “heat shield” for a pretty big part of the day.
